Hi! I’m Andy. I scored a 36 on the ACT and a 1520 on the SAT, with a 790 in SAT Math. Having gone through these tests myself, I know how overwhelming they can feel at first, but I also know that with the right strategies and clear explanations, they become much more manageable.

Hi! I’m Andy. I scored a 36 on the ACT and a 1520 on the SAT, with a 790 in SAT Math. Having gone through these tests myself, I know how overwhelming they can feel at first, but I also know that with the right strategies and clear explanations, they become much more manageable.
My goal as a tutor is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them actually understand why. I try to explain things in a way that makes sense instead of just memorizing steps, because once a student understands the logic behind a problem, their confidence improves a lot. I’m patient, adaptable, and I always try to match my teaching style to how each student learns best.
I’ve been tutoring for over 2 years through platforms like Schoolhouse, Wyzant, and independent tutoring, with over 1,400 minutes of teaching experience. I’ve worked with students ages 13–17 in ACT/SAT prep, math, and science, and I’ve learned that every student needs something a little different. Some want fast-paced test strategy, while others need a slower, step-by-step approach to build confidence first.
Outside of tutoring, I’ve also worked in STEM research, including bioinformatics projects involving machine learning and principal component analysis. That background has made me especially comfortable teaching problem-solving and analytical thinking, not just test tricks.
I want tutoring sessions to feel productive, encouraging, and actually helpful—not stressful. I’m easy to reach, quick to respond, and always open to feedback from students and parents so I can make lessons as effective as possible.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!

great tutor

Andy was nonchalant( per my son) and explains really well. He went over the whole test review with my son. He feels confident and understands the concept well. He was able to practice questions and compare the answers that were not aligned. He liked his energy and style of explaining the material. We will definitely use him again!
