Systems Engineering. In it, I take complicated processes and find ways to make them automated and efficient. I enjoy finding solutions, especially novel ones.

I have taught and tutored several computation heavy courses in Python and MATLAB and I am currently creating an open source course on process control in MATLAB. While I programmed in School, much of my programming experience is from side projects such as creating webscraping bots or analysis using APIs. Because of my self-taught programming experience, I believe I can relate to students who are learning subjects for the first time and help them learn to find solutions on their own.

No one starts out excellent or even proficient. In fact, I don't believe anyone can be an expert in EVERYTHING in Python or MATLAB. But, I believe learning how to find the answers is key, and I'm confident in my ability to find those answers.

Knowledgeable & great at explaining difficult topics

My husband is taking a python class (while working full time) and was struggling with some important foundation topics - in a quiz he got all the questions wrong. Joshua was extremely responsive and found time to get on a call with him with short notice. After the call with Joshua my husband felt much better about those topics and didn't go to the next class feeling incrementally behind. One of the things my husband liked most about Joshua was his enthusiasm about the topic and ability to walk through the questions, break them down and explain them in an easily digestible way. My husband is looking forward to working with Joshua again in the future as he goes through this course. Would highly recommend Joshua.
