Lessons are accountability checkpoints to keep students on track with their projects. It is expected that students schedule time to independently work on projects between lessons. Lesson success is not measured by the student project output. After each lesson, students will leave with a clear plan and a recorded demonstration or critique. Lessons are a checkpoint to ask questions and overcome challenges and prepare students to continue independent work between lessons.

In my four years at school and over 3 years in the animation industry, I have had many opportunities to learn and apply the principles of design in a variety of graphic based projects. Of course, graphic design is not limited to logos and personal branding like I have done for myself and other businesses, but it also includes asset creation for movies and games. I have worked on many animated projects that require UI design or web design. In my career, I have also had the chance to work at a screen printing company called Bluff City Sports as a Graphic Designer responsible for preparing assets for screen printing. Coleman was very knowledgeable in Autodesk Maya and patient as he instructed.

Coleman taught me how to use the edging and extruding tools. His approach was systematic and clear. He didn't rush me and allowed for questions. I enjoyed the lesson.

Expert at illustrator, relays information simply and clearly

Coleman R. was very helpful. He knew all the terminology very well. I learned how to change the stroke color and width to my liking. He instructed me with the efficient organizational benefits of having multiple layers. I was impressed he understood all the little troubles I had as Google and the tutorials didn’t show all the pointer changes like clicking alt. If you’re using a Mac or PC, he should be able to guide you to use the right stuff. There’s lots of little muscle memory clicks and tools that are pretty ingrained in my head now that I don’t have the vocabulary to explain. In our lesson, I worked on making an animation of Santa’s helper. So far, it’s turning out as good as I’d hoped. The striped leg stockings are next so we’ll see if I got it. Highly recommend.
