Hello Learners and Parents of Learners,

I'm a highly experienced tutor who holds a Ph.D in Comparative Literature from UT writing and composition.

I'm a highly experienced tutor who holds a Ph.D in Comparative Literature from UT writing and composition.

I began tutoring high school students in English language arts when I was an undergraduate at Stanford. Since then, I've tutored SAT/ACT prep, Spanish, Italian, and college-level writing and composition.

My teaching experience includes instructing two courses in the Department of Rhetoric at UT Austin. My approach to tutoring centers the students needs and goals, whether it's a general goal of becoming a more effective communicator, or earning an A in English.

In my 10 years of experience, I've helped students of different ages, personalities, and backgrounds. My empathetic, patient approach to learning helps me connect with and motivate students to do their best.

At Stanford, I took three years of Italian, and even studied in Florence for three months. During those three months, I lived with a Florentine family and took classes in Italian. I continued my study of Italian upon returning to campus, and later won 3rd place in the Roberts-Martin prize for Italian literature.

My background is, essentially, in world literature. While I might not remember the date when an English work was published, I do have experience reading Japanese, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, Latin American, Canadian, Italian, French, and feminist literature. I'd love to hear about your essay!

I have over 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring English composition. One of the genres I teach is the personal statement, which is often be difficult to master. However, the effort involved in crafting a compelling self narrative pays off in dividends. Not only have I had success with personal statements submitted to universities and employers, but my students have also gained acceptance to their target schools.

I've extensive writing experience through both my high school and university education. As a student of the humanities, I've learned to read and write critically on a diverse number of subjects- from material culture, to medieval Persian poetry, to the history of the pistachio.
