Hi there, my name is Yves (pronounce Eve); I have a Master's degree in chemical engineering from ESCOM University, in Paris, France, with 25 years experience in operations, sales, supply chain and financial planning; I operate today as an independent consultant across business functions and tutoring has become my passion.

For undergrad, grad and MBA students, I tutor data analytics (linear programming and optimization models, decision trees, simulations, Markov chains), statistics (probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regressions and ANOVA), and operations management (supply chain, PERT, CPM, inventory management, time series forecasts, control charts, SPC and queuing models).

In college, back in the day, I had a hard time understanding the practical applications of statistics. It is only late that I was able to associate the importance of data analytics with business decisions. Statistics applied to the public health sector are of huge and growing importance. You see everyday claims made about the efficacy of a certain drug or the results obtained by a certain test group. I help students in their biostatistics class understand not only the various statistical tests and methodology but also how to interpret results. Classic assignments you will face are hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regressions and correlations. The world of statistics is a true wonder and a never-ending learning experience. I will help you build a probability table and show how easy conditional probability questions can be solved using it. We will study combinations and permutations and see how relevant Pascal's triangle is. Probability can be fun!

I found them both boring and frustrating. I had a hard time understanding the practical applications of statistics. Fortunately, class syllabi have also evolved to address more practical business situations, and software applications have made solving these problems a lot easier. Today, I help students with their statistics and data analytics courses. I can help with quantitative and qualitative statistics (statistical tests for means and variances, regressions), both parametric and non-parametric, as well as less common statistical tests such as normality tests or post-hoc tests. All my tutoring is in Excel; I can support students who are working with other applications. The world of statistics is a true wonder and a never-ending learning experience.

Over the course of my career, I have had to create reports, manipulate large data sets, some times daily. Very quickly, I learned the VBA was going to be my friend. While coding involves a little upfront investment, the returns can be substantial; I have been able to achieve productivity gains of over 1000% with VBA, i.e. freeing up 90% of my time for more strategic projects. Today, I continue to enjoy coding and look forward to sharing my learnings. With me, you will learn basic elements of coding, variables, inputs, outputs, If statements, loops, importing and exporting data, how to create reports, etc. While I work primarily in Excel, the VBA language is compatible across all MS products (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). VBA is a journey; there is always more to learn daily; so be patient with yourself, and most importantly have fun!
