I am an engineering graduate from UT Austin, which required passing four semesters of college calculus. To become certified as a WyzAnt tutor, I needed to pass the certification test, which normally takes half an hour. It took me all of 10 minutes and I scored 100%. As a hobby, I am a tournament chess player. The same kind of mind is required for both playing chess at a high level and for understanding algebra. I believe I am more than qualified to tutor for Algebra 1, and I look forward to being of service to whatever students might need me.

I was the 1979 Texas Junior Chess Champion. I have written three chess books. I am an internationally ranked tournament player currently ranked inside the top thousand among active players in the US.

I am eager to assist physics students in any way possible and without a doubt physics will be the most difficult course you take as a high school student, so you are not alone! Trigonometry is foundational to math and physics of more than one-dimension. I received 100% on the Wyzant trigonometry certification exam which took me about half an hour. I am equipped to tutor not only in trigonometry, but as a result also multi-dimensional physics and higher level math.

Awesome, kind energy from a chess wizard- what more can you ask for?!

We absolutely loved working with Scott and I would recommend him to anyone- he knows so much about chess and is very accomplished, but his approach is very accessible and he is very patient and understanding! I am not as good a chess player as my partner and we were all laughing together as I navigated my way around the board- but Scott was always encouraging and a real cheerleader!
