Bio

Smarter and happier - I am passionate about making the STEM journey simpler and less stressful.

I work with high school students to improve their math, physics, and programming skills. I tutor AP Calculus, AP Physics (1 and C), and AP Computer Science A. I was a volunteer tutor for the Austin ISD for 2 years – in fact, that is my origin story!

At the college level, I tutor selected electrical engineering (EE) subjects. My EE expertise is primarily in circuits, and signals and systems....

A little bit about myself and my approach.

While I have done quite well academically, the reality is that my journey was much harder than it needed to be. I have personal experience with many of the ways that students get tripped up. I now believe that I have a simple roadmap to fluency and comfort with the STEM subjects that avoids many of the pitfalls along the way – both mental and technical.

Communication is one of the keys to my effectiveness – I value a student’s assessment of their situation. I also pay close attention when a student is solving problems – this is where the rubber hits the road, and it gives me clues about how they think and/or their technical gaps (among other things). It is only then that I formulate a teaching plan that will rebuild their basics (as needed), clarify misconceptions, and add some new problem-solving strategies and techniques to their toolbox.

I find it very gratifying when a student says that they "get" it. As a tutor, I've had the pleasure of helping my students improve their understanding and, as a result, see their test grades and scores improve.

I learnt C in my undergraduate program as a part of the curriculum. I have used C since then for small-to-medium projects in a professional capacity (at an engineering firm) and for hobby projects at home. I have tutored EE312 (Software Design and Implementation) at UT Austin with great results.

I have a broad range of exposure to calculus, starting at the AP level in high school. In undergraduate, I aced my courses in college calculus including series and multi variable calculus. I was still curious about the theoretical underpinnings of calculus - this led me to courses in real analysis in graduate school at Cornell. The result of all this experience is that I can both demonstrate procedures to solve specific problems and also explain the idea behind them, the “why of the procedure”. Better understanding leads to a lower mental burden and better test outcomes.

Educational Qualifications: I got my Masters in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Cornell University. I graduated with a GPA of 4.07. My undergraduate degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering was from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Chennai (the premier engineering college in India). Industry Experience: I was a Analog and RF circuit designer at Silicon Laboratories from 2004-2011. Analog and RF design are multidisciplinary fields that require a sound understanding of fundamental electrical engineering subjects and a varied technical skill set. In order to be admitted to IIT, the premier undergraduate engineering program in India, I had to get through the extremely competitive Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). The JEE tests students in calculus at the AP Calculus AB level but with an emphasis on understanding and insight. In undergraduate, I was exposed to calculus beyond the calculus BC level including series and multi variable calculus. Finally, I took courses in real analysis in graduate school - real analysis concerns itself with the theoretical underpinnings of calculus.

He finds out where your weak points are and strengthen them by go over key concepts you forgot or misunderstood. He does this repeatedly when working out problems until you master the concepts.
