I have been a math teacher at a local school and a math mentor at a middle school, Austin ISD. American schools focus on the use of manipulatives and calculators and computers. This is right. But when too much attention is given at the sacrifice of independent brain activity (mental math), the students cannot do well on math tests. I am good at teaching and coaching students in developing mental math capacities and incorporating mental math in the tutoring and teaching at schools, which makes me very popular among students. Mental math also makes China and other Asian countries stand out in international competitions. I am a very gentle and persuasive teacher. I have been teaching for 10 years in China and the USA in elementary school, middle school, high school, and university.
