Hi! I’m Jazzmyn, an experienced math educator and tutor specializing in Algebra I and Algebra II. With more than six years of experience tutoring students in math and STEM subjects, as well as experience teaching high school Algebra in the classroom, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students with many different learning styles, strengths, and levels of confidence.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and my Master of Public Health from UTHealth Houston. My academic and professional background has also given me extensive experience with mathematics, statistics, and quantitative problem-solving.
My goal is to help students truly understand why a problem works rather than simply memorizing a set of steps. I break challenging concepts into smaller, manageable pieces and work through problems alongside my students until they feel comfortable tackling them independently. I can help with solving equations and inequalities, linear equations, slope and graphing, systems of equations, exponents and radicals, polynomials and factoring, quadratic equations and functions, word problems, homework and test preparation, and strengthening foundational math skills.
I especially enjoy working with students who feel frustrated, discouraged, or intimidated by math. One of my greatest passions as an educator is empowering students and helping them recognize just how capable they are. I believe patience, encouragement, and clear explanations can make a huge difference not only in a student’s grades, but also in how they see themselves as learners.
Whether your student needs ongoing Algebra support, help catching up, or focused preparation for an upcoming test, I’ll tailor our sessions to their individual needs and learning style. Ultimately, my goal is for students to leave our sessions feeling more confident, more independent, and proud of what they are capable of accomplishing.
