I tutor math with a strong focus on clarity, confidence, and real understanding. My academic background includes extensive college-level coursework in mathematics and related STEM subjects, including Calculus I, II, and III, Engineering Physics I and II, and other advanced quantitative coursework. I currently serve as an instructor for Calculus II & Calculus III, where I help college students strengthen their understanding of core concepts, problem-solving strategies, and test preparation in a peer-led academic setting. In this role, I guide students through difficult material in a way that is organized, approachable, and practical.

My teaching experience began even before my work in math. I have been teaching music in one-on-one and group settings for about 20 years, and that long background helped me develop a patient, adaptable, and personalized teaching style. I now bring those same strengths into math tutoring. My experience has primarily involved working with college-age students in both group support sessions and individualized instruction, helping learners build confidence and develop step-by-step systems for approaching challenging problems.

My teaching style is encouraging, methodical, and focused on lasting improvement. I do not just show students how to get an answer. I help them understand why a method works, how to recognize patterns, and how to apply ideas independently in future problems. My goal is to help students improve their grades while also building the kind of problem-solving ability and confidence that will continue to serve them beyond a single class or exam.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I am an experienced math tutor working with students across Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. I help ACT students strengthen the core math skills tested on the exam while learning to recognize common question types and solve problems more efficiently. My approach emphasizes understanding the underlying math rather than relying on memorized tricks, while also developing practical strategies for working under time pressure. I tailor sessions to each student’s current score, target score, and areas that need the most improvement.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As an experienced private math tutor, I help students build a strong foundation in Algebra 1 through clear, step-by-step explanations and targeted practice. I work with students on equations and inequalities, graphing, functions, systems of equations, exponents, polynomials, and factoring while also addressing any gaps in prerequisite skills. Lessons are tailored to each student’s current classwork, homework, and test goals, with an emphasis on understanding why the math works rather than simply memorizing steps. My goal is to make algebra feel manageable and help students become more confident and independent problem-solvers. I especially like that this emphasizes understanding rather than memorization, since that differentiates you from someone who just helps students finish homework.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am qualified to tutor Algebra 2 because of my strong college-level math background and my experience helping students build confidence in foundational algebra skills that carry into higher math. I focus on making abstract ideas feel manageable by breaking problems into clear steps and helping students recognize patterns in equations, functions, factoring, rational expressions, and exponential relationships. My teaching style is patient, organized, and encouraging, and I work to make sure students understand why a method works rather than just memorizing procedures. I help students strengthen both accuracy and independence so they can approach new problems with more confidence.
Calculus

Calculus

I am especially qualified to tutor Calculus because I have completed Calculus I, II, and III and currently serve as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Calculus I. In that role, I help college students understand core concepts, prepare for exams, and develop step-by-step systems for solving challenging problems. I focus on clarity, conceptual understanding, and helping students connect formulas to the ideas behind them, including limits, derivatives, applications, and foundational integration. My goal is not only to help students succeed in the course, but to help them feel genuinely capable in calculus.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I am an experienced math tutor with a strong background in calculus and differential equations. I can help students with first-order differential equations, separable and linear equations, exact equations, systems of differential equations, second-order equations, Laplace transforms, series solutions, and common applications such as population models, mixing problems, and spring systems. I focus on helping students recognize which method applies to a given problem and understand the reasoning behind each step rather than simply memorizing procedures. I tailor sessions to each student’s course, current understanding, and specific areas where they need additional support.
Geometry

Geometry

I am qualified to tutor Geometry because I have a strong overall mathematics background and experience helping students work carefully through visual and logical problems. Geometry is a subject where students often benefit from structure, and I help them organize their thinking clearly when working with angles, triangles, similarity, area, proofs, and coordinate geometry. I emphasize understanding relationships and reasoning step by step so students can see how geometric ideas fit together. My teaching style is patient and methodical, which helps students become more confident in a subject that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
Guitar

Guitar

I am qualified to tutor guitar because I have many years of experience teaching students in one-on-one settings and applying the instrument professionally in live and recorded music. My background includes private instruction, touring, studio work, pit orchestra performance, and arranging, all of which have required strong technical and musical command of the guitar. I have taught students at different levels and focus on helping them improve technique, rhythm, fretboard knowledge, chord fluency, reading, and overall musicianship. My teaching style is patient, structured, and personalized, and I work to help students understand both how to play and why the music works.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I am qualified to tutor Music Theory through many years of professional performance, teaching, arranging, and practical application of theory in real musical settings. My background includes touring, studio work, pit orchestra performance, symphonic arranging, and long-term private instruction, all of which have required a deep working understanding of harmony, rhythm, form, ear training, and analysis. I have spent many years helping students connect theoretical concepts to actual music so that theory feels useful, clear, and musical rather than abstract or intimidating. My teaching style is patient, organized, and highly personalized, and I focus on helping students understand how theory works in sound, on the page, and on their instrument.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I help Prealgebra students strengthen the foundational skills they need to succeed in Algebra and higher-level math. Lessons can cover fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, negative numbers, exponents, expressions, equations, graphing, and other essential topics while addressing any gaps from earlier math courses. I tailor each lesson to the student’s current classwork and learning style, breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps. My goal is to help students understand the reasoning behind the math, build confidence, and become more independent problem-solvers. This one also pairs nicely with your Algebra 1 ad—the Prealgebra listing emphasizes building the foundation, while the Algebra 1 listing emphasizes developing and applying algebraic skills.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I am qualified to tutor Precalculus because of my college-level coursework in advanced mathematics and my experience helping students prepare for calculus by strengthening their understanding of functions, trigonometry, algebraic reasoning, and graph analysis. I work with students to build fluency across the many topics that come together in precalculus, while also helping them see the bigger picture instead of viewing each topic in isolation. My teaching approach is organized, supportive, and focused on making difficult ideas more approachable through careful explanation and repetition of core patterns. I aim to help students leave precalculus with both stronger skills and a stronger sense of confidence heading into higher math.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I am an experienced math tutor working with students across Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. I help SAT students strengthen the algebra, functions, geometry, data analysis, and problem-solving skills tested on the exam while learning to recognize common question types and work more efficiently. I also help students develop effective strategies for the digital SAT, including knowing when and how to use Desmos to solve problems quickly. I tailor each session to the student’s current score, target score, and the specific areas where they can gain the most points.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I am qualified to tutor Trigonometry because of my background in higher-level math and my experience helping students understand angle relationships, identities, unit circle concepts, graphs, and applications. Trigonometry can be difficult because students are asked to connect algebra, geometry, and new function behavior all at once, so I focus on making those connections clear and intuitive. I teach in a step-by-step way that helps students move beyond memorization and actually understand what the trig functions mean and how to work with them. My goal is to help students build a solid foundation that will support success in precalculus, calculus, and beyond.
