Over the better part of a decade, I have tutored students one-on-one at the middle school, high school, and college level in math and physics, both online and in person. I hold a Bachelor's in Physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master's in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My undergraduate education was as much a mathematics education as it was a physics one, giving me a strong dual foundation that I draw on constantly when supporting students across a wide range of topics. During my undergraduate years, I also helped lead recitations for physics courses in which I guided groups of students through hands-on, collaborative problems that complemented their coursework.
My tutoring philosophy centers on meeting students exactly where they are. Every student approaches a problem differently, and I genuinely value hearing each student’s perspective before jumping to a solution. I focus on identifying where a student's reasoning went off track and guiding them back toward the correct answer while staying as close to their own framework as possible. Rather than laying a rigid method on top of a student's thinking, my goal is that each student feels like they discovered the answer on their own.
Many of my college-level students have taken math or physics courses primarily to fulfill a minor degree requirement, but helping them succeed is something I find deeply rewarding. Sometimes those courses can become hurdles to achieving an unrelated academic or professional goal. Clearing that hurdle is something I take seriously, and I am honored to help students achieve their dreams however I can. Whether I am working with a middle-schooler to build their foundational skills or a college student to tackle advanced material, I bring the same patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to every session.
