Hello,

I am Tutor Anne! I teach young people and adults. I hold a BA in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. I currently study mental health counseling at Bradley University and am a member of the honors society there. Due to my high grade point average and dedication to my clinical mental health studies, I can tutor graduate-level counseling students. I have one year of near-full-time experience teaching students from elementary age through high school in English language arts, grammar, reading comprehension, elementary-level math, and writing. I have worked for one year at a school helping refugees of various levels learn English as a second language.

I have taught children and adolescents with unique learning styles and needs. My approach is to make learning important and fun. I personalize lessons to fit with individual goals and interests. Former clients told me that I get their children/teens really interested in the material. I can offer homework if needed. I like to scaffold the learning to stay with the student's pace. I have acquired a lot of knowledge about best teaching practices and how to teach effectively, incorporating a variety of techniques. One technique that I use is to assess students regularly and show them their improvement. I let students know what needs more work. When students are stuck or bored, I use creative approaches.
