I earned a BBA in Accounting and a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and I am a licensed CPA in the state of Texas. My academic training in accounting, combined with my professional experience as a CPA, provides a strong foundation for tutoring undergraduate accounting courses. I am able to explain accounting concepts not only from a textbook perspective, but also in the context of how they are applied in real business and professional settings.
During my time at the University of Texas at Austin, I served as a Teaching Assistant for an honors-level managerial accounting course. In addition to my TA responsibilities, I provided one-on-one tutoring to students in both financial accounting and intermediate accounting. I worked with college-aged students in individual tutoring sessions over a period of approximately two years, helping them understand course material, complete problem sets, and prepare for exams. This experience allowed me to adapt my teaching approach to each student’s learning style and areas of difficulty.
My tutoring approach emphasizes building a strong conceptual foundation before focusing on detailed calculations or technical rules. I use real-world examples and high-level context to help students understand why accounting concepts work the way they do, which makes the material more intuitive and easier to retain. Once the underlying concepts are clear, I guide students through the details step by step so they can apply what they’ve learned confidently in their coursework and exams.
