My name is Amy Hong and I am a pre-med junior at UT Austin studying Biomedical Engineering with a Computer Science minor. I have a strong passion for helping middle school and high school students succeed in math and science. My academic background combines engineering problem-solving with core premedical coursework, allowing me to teach subjects such as algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology in a clear and approachable way. I understand how challenging these subjects can feel at a young age, and I focus on building strong foundations that prepare students for more advanced coursework.

I have experience working with students in one-on-one tutoring settings, supporting learners across a range of ability levels. I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, whether they need step-by-step explanations, visual examples, or guided practice problems. I emphasize understanding why a method works rather than memorizing steps, which helps students gain confidence and become more independent learners. I also help students develop effective study habits, organization skills, and test-taking strategies that are especially important during middle and high school.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and ability to explain complex ideas in a simple, relatable way. As a biomedical engineering student pursuing medicine, I enjoy connecting math and science concepts to real-world examples, such as how they apply to the human body or everyday technology, to keep students engaged and motivated. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, overcoming frustration, and realizing that they are capable of succeeding in STEM subjects.
