Hi! My name is Allen, and I’m a Googler! I studied Computer Science and Mathematics student at the University of Texas at Austin, and have my Master’s in Computer Science. Over the past several years, I’ve had extensive experience teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students at both the university and middle school levels. At UT Austin, I’ve served as a Teaching Assistant for a range of core and advanced courses, including Discrete Mathematics, Honors Concurrency, and Implementing Modern Programming Languages. In these roles, I’ve led discussion sections, held office hours, helped students debug complex projects, and guided them through challenging proofs and algorithms. Working with large and diverse classes has given me strong experience adapting explanations to different backgrounds, learning styles, and confidence levels (ranging from middle school to college).

As a tutor, my approach centers on building deep understanding and student confidence rather than rote memorization. I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into intuitive ideas, encouraging students to ask questions, and helping them develop problem-solving strategies they can apply independently. I’m especially experienced in helping students who feel "stuck" or intimidated by technical material regain confidence and momentum. In addition to my academic teaching background, I’ve worked as a Software Engineering Intern at companies such as Coinbase and Capital One, where I applied computer science theory to real-world systems involving large-scale data pipelines, distributed systems, and production code. I am happy to offer mock interviews and talk with students about internships, recruiting, and career paths in tech.
