Hi, I’m Kaitlyn. I am an MFA candidate in Costume Technology at one of the nation’s top programs, where I teach tailoring and garment construction to other graduate students. I have also taught several years of introductory sewing to undergraduates and worked professionally as a draper and tailor for theatre, film, and custom design projects. My work has recently been featured in Vogue. My experience has given me expertise in areas such as flat patterning, draping, tailoring, couture sewing techniques, and many more areas (like hat-making, masks, mascots, and fabric paint+dying!).
My approach to teaching is goal oriented and patient. I tailor each lesson to the student’s experience level and interests, combining technical skill with creative exploration. I want every student to leave with both confidence and a clear understanding of how fabric, fit, and construction work together.
If you’re interested in working with me, feel free to reach out with details about your current project, skill level, goals, or any questions you may have. I look forward to helping you grow your skills and give you the tools you need to be an excellent artist!
