I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied government, economics, and business. While at UT, I worked in the admissions department, gaining firsthand experience in what academic excellence and preparation look like at the highest level. That background, combined with my own coursework in quantitative and writing-intensive fields, gave me a strong foundation to tutor subjects ranging from reading and writing to math through Calculus I, as well as test preparation and study skills.

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and focused on building confidence alongside subject mastery. Over the past several years, I have worked with students of different ages, from elementary school through college, in both one-on-one and group settings. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps and tailoring my approach to each student’s learning style. Parents often find that I not only help raise grades and test scores, but also give students tools to stay organized, motivated, and independent.

I specialize in tutoring reading comprehension, essay writing, spelling, and mathematics (up to Calculus I), as well as SAT/ACT and general test prep. My goal is to help students feel less overwhelmed and more capable—turning moments of frustration into breakthroughs. Whether it’s strengthening fundamentals or pushing toward advanced achievement, I bring both academic rigor and genuine encouragement to every session.

ACT English

ACT English

I specialize in ACT English prep with a focus on making grammar and writing rules clear, fast, and repeatable under time pressure. I help students master: • Core grammar rules (punctuation, subject-verb agreement, modifiers, sentence structure) • Rhetorical skills (organization, clarity, concision, and style) • Recognizing patterns in ACT questions so answers become predictable • Improving speed without sacrificing accuracy My approach is very structured—I teach students how to quickly identify what each question is testing and apply a simple decision process, rather than guessing or overthinking. I’ve worked with many students to raise their English scores by targeting high-frequency question types and eliminating common mistakes. The goal is to turn the ACT English section into one of the most consistent and highest-scoring parts of the test.

Tutor responded:

David — I really appreciate this! You came in with a lot to cover and did exactly what strong students do: stayed focused, asked great questions, and made sure you actually understood the “why” behind everything. Getting through two months of macro in four days isn’t easy, but you handled it well and built real intuition — that’s what makes the difference on exams. Glad to hear you felt confident walking out. Well deserved. Anytime you need help going forward, I’ve got you!
