My name is Tori! In 2022, I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where I graduated with honors and received recognition for excellence in legal writing. Before law school, I completed my undergraduate studies with a double major in Political Science and Plan II interdisciplinary studies, graduating with high honors. Throughout my academic journey, I developed a deep understanding of how to craft compelling personal narratives—skills that directly inform my approach to tutoring college and law school admissions essays.

I have extensive experience working with students on application essays at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In college, I tutored high school seniors—many of whom were first-generation college applicants—on their personal statements and supplemental essays. I continued this work in law school, where I was a TA who regularly graded and reviewed undergraduate essays. My feedback focuses on helping students develop a strong voice, tell authentic stories, and connect their experiences to their academic and professional goals. I understand what admissions committees are looking for, and I work with students to ensure their essays are not only polished but also personal and persuasive.

As a practicing attorney, I regularly write and edit documents that require clarity, structure, and a persuasive tone—skills that align closely with effective admissions writing. I also mentor undergraduates and interns, providing feedback on their written work and coaching them through professional development tasks like cover letters and personal statements. I bring this same clarity and precision to my tutoring, helping each student refine their ideas and present themselves in the strongest possible light.

Essay Writing

I have extensive experience helping students craft compelling essays, drawing on my academic background in writing-intensive programs and my own successful completion of a senior honors thesis. As a Plan II Honors and Government major at the University of Texas, I completed an interdisciplinary thesis on female serial killers, which required deep research, analytical writing, and narrative clarity. I’ve also tutored students in personal statement writing for college and law school, with a focus on structure, voice, and storytelling. My approach combines strong editing skills with a supportive, individualized method to help writers bring out their most authentic and persuasive selves.
Legal Writing

Legal Writing

As a practicing attorney and graduate of USC Gould School of Law, I have extensive experience in legal research, writing, and editing. I’ve drafted and revised legal briefs, motions, and memoranda in both civil and criminal contexts, with a focus on clarity, structure, and persuasive argumentation. I also served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate legal fundamentals course, where I helped students develop foundational legal writing skills. My approach emphasizes precision, critical thinking, and strong organization—key skills for any aspiring legal writer.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I completed an honors thesis as part of the selective Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, where I conducted original interdisciplinary research on gender and crime. My thesis involved extensive literature review, qualitative analysis, and multiple rounds of revision under faculty supervision, culminating in a formal defense. This experience gave me a deep understanding of how to structure complex arguments, synthesize sources, and maintain a clear, scholarly voice. I enjoy helping students navigate the thesis process—from developing a research question to polishing the final draft.
