Hi there! I'm Rebecca, a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, where I double major in Psychology and Humanities Honors with a focus on Developmental Trauma in Children and Medicine on a Pre-Medical track. I’ve found that learning is most effective when teachers further engage with students, such as by incorporating a joke, showing personality, and being approachable. I work to bring those qualities into every lesson!

I tutor math and psychology. In math, we work to build confidence and comprehension in 7th-grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and College Algebra. Together, we focus on finding patterns and developing problem-solving strategies that go beyond just math.

In psychology, I support high school and college students in AP Psychology, Intro to Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology/Psychopathology, Developmental Psychology, and courses discussing treatment methods/modalities. No matter your goal, we break down topics into clear, manageable concepts, with real-world examples.

Over the past several years, I have tutored students of all ages in all subjects. I chose to specialize in math and psychology because they allow me to support both problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

In lessons, we use multiple learning modalities to increase comprehension, confidence, and overall performance. One method is the "try it yourself first" approach, where I provide the question or problem, the student attempts to solve it to the best of their abilities, and then we go through the problem together. I also incorporate interactive tools and online games, such as Booklet, to further independent problem-solving and maintain engagement.

Overall, my goal is to help you reach yours! I’m flexible, happy to use any materials that work best for you, quick to respond, and work based on the idea that if I’m bored, the student is bored. As a result, I work to make lessons engaging and fun! Feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to meeting you!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have tutored Algebra 1 for over 3 years, tutoring students from all over the United States and globally in Singapore, Australia, and England. This experience has allowed me to learn about the topic from many different points of view, gaining an even deeper understanding and ways of solving problems to pass onto my future students.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

For the past several years, I have been both a volunteer and a paid tutor for kids in elementary school, primarily in math. Math has always been a tough subject for kids, so we make learning fun through maintaining a positive learning environment, playing educational games, taking brain breaks, and more! During lessons, we prioritize working to understand the material at hand while learning about study tips and different ways to solve the problem to give the kiddo the skills to prosper in class!
GED

GED

Over the past three years tutoring folks aged 5 - 26, I have assisted with preparation for tests, including topics in the GED. Since I have primarily taught math over these three, I would love to help you prepare for the math section of your GED!
Geography

Geography

As an avid geography and history buff, I tutor geography to those in elementary through high school! Learning about the world and the different parts of our earth is very important, so we prioritize a deep level of understanding to extrapolate ideas.
Geometry

Geometry

I have tutored students in geometry from many different countries and states for over three years, providing me with a broad view of the topics that are taught, including the differences between standards and teachers.

In my over three years of tutoring psychology and other subjects, I have helped students understand the topics and gain study skills, leading to increased grades and other outcomes. I am able to tutor AP Psychology, any Intro to Psych course, Social Psych, Abnormal Psychology or similar, Developmental Psych, and many more! As a University of Texas at Austin Humanities Honors - Developmental Trauma in Children and Medicine and Psychology double major, I have access to the most up-to-date psychology information and literature.
Social Studies

Social Studies

For over three years, I have tutored students aged 5 - 26 in all subjects, including social studies. As an avid news watcher and someone who grew up talking about the state of the world at the dinner table in kindergarten, I yearn to learn about our world and the intricacies of its cultures and peoples. In lessons, we strive for in-depth conversations to critically think about the information at hand.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, I have had to figure out how I study best, because everybody studies differently. As a result, I have learned about many different study methods, how they work, why they work, and so much more! Taking a psychological background to figuring out what skills works best for what student is my goal, and something I incorporate into every lesson, not just about study skills!
