Hi there! Hi there! I'm Rebecca, a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, where I double major in Psychology and Humanities Honors with a focus on Developmental Trauma in Children and Medicine on a Pre-Medical track. I’ve found that learning is most effective when teachers further engage with students, such as by incorporating a joke, showing personality, and being approachable. I work to bring those qualities into every lesson!
I tutor math and psychology. In math, we work to build confidence and comprehension in 7th-grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and College Algebra. Together, we focus on finding patterns and developing problem-solving strategies that go beyond just math.
In psychology, I support high school and college students in AP Psychology, Intro to Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology/Psychopathology, Developmental Psychology, and courses discussing treatment methods/modalities. No matter your goal, we break down topics into clear, manageable concepts, with real-world examples.
Over the past several years, I have tutored students of all ages in all subjects. I chose to specialize in math and psychology because they allow me to support both problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
In lessons, we use multiple learning modalities to increase comprehension, confidence, and overall performance. One method is the "try it yourself first" approach, where I provide the question or problem, the student attempts to solve it to the best of their abilities, and then we go through the problem together. I also incorporate interactive tools and online games, such as Booklet, to further independent problem-solving and maintain engagement.
Overall, my goal is to help you reach yours! I’m flexible, happy to use any materials that work best for you, quick to respond, and work based on the idea that if I’m bored, the student is bored. As a result, I work to make lessons engaging and fun! Feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to meeting you!
