I know math isn’t for everyone -- it wasn’t for me when I was younger. However, as I got older and had the privilege of working with many teachers and professors, my perception of math completely changed. Learning math is not just about memorizing rules, techniques, and procedures; it’s about relating what we learn to the real world to make sense of it. Students should focus more on the “why” rather than just the “how.” Understanding the concepts plays a huge role in developing strong mathematical thinking.
I strongly believe that each student has the potential to learn mathematics. I have worked with over 500 students, many of whom started out believing they “weren’t math people.” By the time they left my classroom, they not only felt more confident but often surprised themselves with how much they had improved!
My teaching style is quick and to the point, but always focused on ensuring students understand the concepts deeply. I make use of students’ prior knowledge and build meaningful connections to new material. I am engaging, patient, and dedicated to creating a safe and positive learning environment. I hope to bring the same energy and approach to tutoring on this platform, so students leave each session feeling more confident and satisfied. As we work together, it’s important for me to review any materials you share (class notes, assignments, test reviews, and more) so I can develop a plan to make our time together as productive as possible.
