I'm Eli! I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biology with minors in Mathematics and Classics, receiving the Archibald Prize as one of the top ranked scholars at my college. One of the most important lessons I learned from my education is how critical it is to be able to understand content not only for doing well at assessments but for having a truly holistic understanding of the course material. As such, I focus on not just addressing the current problems and assessments at hand but on building a complete foundation and understanding of course material that makes it possible to thrive in future work and classes. I make it my goal to approach lessons in a way that integrates the context, background, and applications of a topic with the material, developing a full understanding of the topic before giving practice time to work towards building independence and autonomy in the subject.
I have experience tutoring at a college level as a biology teaching assistant and writing mentor, working one-on-one to address topics that students wanted to focus on, prepare for tests, and develop scientific writing skills and comprehension of scientific literature. In addition, I served as a volunteer math tutor for all levels (Algebra I-Linear Algebra and Calculus) at my high school and I was the leader of my high school's Latin club, mentoring students in the Latin language and Roman History.
I want to make sure that my work provides the greatest benefit to students and am quite flexible for the different needs students may have.
