I have 4 years of experience tutoring students of Southern New Hampshire University in game programming and 3D art. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Game Art and Interactive Design, with a minor in Game and Simulation Programming.

I primarily work with clients in a 1:1 setting. A client generally will contact me about a problem with their project, and either in-person or over a video call, will show me this project so that I can provide real-time instruction based on their specific needs. I will usually guide the client through a debugging process to identify the root cause, discuss potential solutions to the problem, and then guide them through the process of implementing a solution. I've helped clients understand and deal with problems in academic, personal, and professional projects.

Oftentimes I have students that are looking for guidance when it comes to acting on open-ended feedback, which is especially common in academic settings where a professor requests a student to make changes to a project to improve their grade. In these scenarios, I have the student show me their project along with the rubric, typically over a video call or in-person, so that I can identify the exact reasons their project isn't meeting the rubric. Once the reasons for the student's marks have been identified, I discuss ways to make their project better fit the rubric, and guide them through the execution process in real-time.

In my four years tutoring college students in video game development courses, I've seen just about every obstacle one might run into with the industry-standard software used in professional game development, and I've taught every one of my students a set of basic techniques for dealing with these issues on their own.

I have a great deal of first-hand experience working with Unreal Engine, Unity, Visual Studio, Rider, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Substance Painter, and Git, and I keep these skills sharp by participating in game jams locally and online.

Approved Subjects

Animation

Animation

My degree in Game Art and Interactive Design certifies that I have passed a course for basic rigging and animation in Autodesk Maya. I worked as a Technical Animator during my 2-years at NH-based game development firm 'Inkwell Interactive'. I was responsible for rigging and animating digital characters and ensuring they imported to Unreal Engine 5 without issues. One of these was a complex robotic walker that used spline IKs, implemented through a custom Python script. During my last year, I was tasked with coordinating other animators and riggers. I also tutored students in rigging and animation occasionally when working as a tutor at Southern New Hampshire University.
Blender

Blender

During my 2 years working at NH-based firm 'Inkwell Interactive', I was responsible for overseeing the animated character pipeline on the projects I was involved with. I integrated the official Send2UE plugin into our projects so that I and others could use the program for our animated characters in Unreal Engine 5. I've also used Blender for game character rigging and animation in a number of game jams, winning first place on three separate occasions with games featuring skeletal meshes made in Blender. I've taught students how to use Blender for various purposes during my 4 years of tutoring at Southern New Hampshire University.
Unity

Unity

I worked a freelance contract for Virginia-based tech firm 'Intellibus.' I was responsible for developing a Unity multiplayer MOBA prototype that integrated the firm's BigParser database for storing player unlocks, currency, loadout, etc. I've tutored many students in Unity best practices during my 4 years working as a tutor at Southern New Hampshire University. I took 4 Unity-based game programming classes as electives for my Bachelor's degree in Game Art and Interactive Design.
Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine

I worked in Unreal Engine 5 as a gameplay programmer, technical animator, and technical artist during my 2 years working at NH-based game development firm 'Inkwell Interactive'. I'm well-versed in Blueprints and C++, Material graphs, Control Rig, and Animation Blueprints, and I've used all these systems together to create a first-person rig for a shooter game dubbed 'The Foundry'. I was known as a go-to tutor for Unreal Engine during my 4 years working as a tutor for Southern New Hampshire University.
