My teaching style in the classroom is to lecture as little as needed and get the students to work as quickly as they can on group or individual work, so that they have the ability to engage on their own terms and I come around and help them where help is either requested or I can see things going astray. I am rarely at my desk away from the students.
I try my best to keep things as entertaining as I can with the simple notion that it's a lot easier for a student to learn if they like you. I'm hopefully likable. Additionally, I try as hard as I can to find the *real source of confusion* rather than harping on surface level understanding of a new topic, e.g. You can't multiply exponents without knowing what an exponent is, which requires understanding multiplication, which requires understanding addition, which requires understanding counting. It's an unfortunately fact that 2020-2022 (and possibly other years) have left much to desire in these foundations.
