Experienced Undergraduate TA at UT Majoring in Biochemistry

I’m a biochemistry major at UT Austin with a 3.96 GPA, and I absolutely love helping students understand tough concepts in biology, chemistry, math, and even intro computer science! I’m also working on a computer science certificate, which has made me even better at problem-solving and breaking down tricky stuff. Right now I’m in a research lab, getting hands-on experience with experiments and data, which means I can show students how what they learn in class actually connects to the real world. I am extremely passionate about science and that shines through in my tutoring style!

I’ve been a TA for both intro biology and genetics courses, and I’ve held office hours where I help students clarify questions, work through problems, and find strategies to approach hard questions on their own. Honestly, my students have been amazing and one of my favorite parts of college. They’ve said things like my office hours are “down to earth and relaxing,” that I’m “super approachable,” and that I explain things in a way that actually makes sense which can sometimes be difficult in the STEM field of work haha. I love making students feel comfortable enough to admit when they’re confused and guiding them to figure things out for themselves. Seeing that moment when a student finally gets it is honestly the best feeling ever!

On top of that, I’ve taught and mentored younger kids as a camp counselor and in cooperative living leadership roles, so I know how to explain things to different ages and learning styles. I bring patience, energy, creativity, and passion to every session, and I genuinely care about helping students succeed! Combining my research experience, TA work, school experience, and experience with younger learners, I’m confident I can make tutoring as effective and fun as possible!
