I’m Marcos! I earned a master’s degree in biology, a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, and a certificate in Spanish for Health Care Professionals. I discovered in college that my favorite classes weren’t always the ones I was most interested in. Instead, the teachers were the ones who brought enjoyment to the classes. When I asked for more assistance or explanation, these lecturers were always eager to go above and beyond to make the content in the classroom interesting and understandable....

I’m Marcos! I earned a master’s degree in biology, a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, and a certificate in Spanish for Health Care Professionals. I discovered in college that my favorite classes weren’t always the ones I was most interested in. Instead, the teachers were the ones who brought enjoyment to the classes. When I asked for more assistance or explanation, these lecturers were always eager to go above and beyond to make the content in the classroom interesting and understandable. I strive to apply this understanding to my coaching style and make learning as enjoyable as possible. Using lesson plans, I often present the subject in an engaging and imaginative manner before outlining the content. I always make sure that students have time to practice the content independently after class. Naturally, this approach can be modified to suit the needs of each student and the subject.

In addition to two years of collegiate teaching experience at the University of Texas' Anatomy & Physiology Labs and Cell Biology Labs, I have one year of experience tutoring elementary school students. In each of my classes, I divided the students into groups of two to five and worked one-on-one with every student who needed more help. By using smaller groups, I was able to ensure that students who required the greatest additional support wouldn't fall behind. Every day after class, I would also host tutoring sessions where students may come for assistance with their homework in biology, anatomy, and physiology, among other topics.
