I'm Maddie! I'm a current student at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a bachelor's in Linguistics and a bachelor's with departmental honors in English. I am also a student in the Creative Writing Certificate. Language is my thing.
I've worked as an Editorial Intern for Greenleaf Bookgroup where I harnessed my proofreading skills. I've also volunteered with Austin Bat Cave, helping facilitate after-school writing workshops by working one-on-one with elementary-age students on their projects. Currently, I'm the Editor-in-Chief of a campus publication at UT, where I work closely with authors to help them develop their ideas and express them well. In this role I've worked with academic writing, journalism, personal narrative, short stories, and poetry, among other things.
As a writing advisor/tutor, my goal is always to cultivate a student's passion for the craft of writing by helping them find their own voice. With my background in linguistics and literature, I will always prioritize clarity and effectiveness over convention. I want a student to feel excited about what they are writing about and confident in their ability to express themselves.
