Hello, I’m Kyle! I graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a BA in Philosophy. I also hold an associate’s degree with honors in Political Science. In high school, I learned that nothing makes education more accessible than a great, dynamic teacher. My approach to tutoring is to meet students where they’re at and encourage them along in their learning process by making intellectually complex material understandable. I always make an effort to bring my love of knowledge to tutoring. I firmly believe that social studies and the humanities should be taught in an approachable manner and that English, history, psychology, and philosophy can be exciting and relatable. During my classes, I strive to find opportunities to praise my students’ progress while maintaining a friendly environment that nurtures self-accountability.

I have four years of experience tutoring sixth to twelfth graders in AP European History, APUSH, Political Science, SAT reading and writing prep, ACT reading, English, and college app essay writing. While in high school, I worked as a paid teaching assistant for Band, Jazz Band, and Guitar classes for eighth graders and high schoolers. For the past three years, I’ve taught American History, Honors Modern World History, World Literature & Composition, AP Gov, and AP Psychology in high school classrooms. Last year, I designed and taught my own Philosophy course to twelfth graders at a private school in the Bay Area, and I’m proud that 100% of my seniors were accepted into four-year colleges.

I care about helping students understand academic topics, and hence I’m open to suggestions from parents and students about how to better support my pupils. I am easy to get in touch with, and I make an effort to respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or to book an initial lesson!
