I have done paid one-on-one tutoring for middle school students in middle school math (ages 12-14), but I informally tutored many of my peers in Calculus in a classroom setting, especially around the time of AP testing. I did volunteer tutoring as part of the National Honor Society during high school in both chemistry and calculus. My approach to tutoring is very student-based—I want them to tell me how I can best help them. I will also patiently walk students through any problems/concepts they find difficult, having them repeat what I do for their retention of the material. Most of all, I want me and the student to have open communication about what style of learning works best for them. I love helping others reach a level of understanding of these course subjects and gain the knowledge they need to succeed and experience the joy of learning.
