I'm Dani! I am currently a 6th grade language arts and social studies teacher at a public charter school. I have taught there for the past 3 years and love it! Some of my favorite moments teaching involve connecting scholars to the world around them through literature, writing, and a strong focus on global citizenship. I also have experience teaching at the high school level and tutoring all levels through college.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a mental health crisis counselor for 15 years. I worked with children, families, adults, and in school settings. I also have experience as a gymnastics and swimming coach. Throughout all these years I worked closely with teachers and other counselors to ensure scholars felt safe in their classrooms and at home.

I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my bachelors in sociology. I am currently completing my teaching certificate, including having passed the required Texas teacher exams. I have a final project remaining before reaching the full certification level. My ultimate goal is a PhD in curriculum development.

In addition to teaching and a love for all things reading, I have 3 children of my own. We enjoy time outdoors and playing board games. We have lived in Texas for 6 years and love our time on the greenbelt and at the river.
