I'm entering my senior year of undergraduate work at UTA as a Biology Major. I am on the Dean's List in the College of Science and receive the highest possible academic scholarship that UTA offers. I am currently doing two types of research on campus; I work in a coral reef immunology lab, and I do theoretical ecology research using differential equations. My future plans include graduate school to get my Ph.D. starting in the fall of 2012, studying lionfish invasive behavior and ecology. For high school students, I received a 32 on my ACT and entered college with 32 credits from 7 AP classes.

When tutoring, what I try to do is break the subject down to the most basic level possible to ensure a good foundation for advanced materials. What I mean by this, for example, is it is very difficult to understand advanced genetics if you haven't mastered the basics of DNA. Also, I try to explain tough subjects in simple terms that are easier to understand and then relate that to the difficult terminology. I have worked on a one-on- one basis with students, I've been an undergraduate TA for the UTA zoology lab and most recently conducted an outreach session with a local junior high class about the effects of invasive species.
