Hello,

It's great to hear from you. I really enjoy tutoring and am looking forward to working with you. Whether you dislike math, have forgotten it, or simply need to brush up, I am sure I can help.

A little about me- I've taught remedial math courses for Tarrant County College but tutor almost any math course from elementary school up to upper division college, math major only classes. Also, I teach chess to elementary school children in an after-school program.

I tutored a high school student in Computer Science (a subject outside my specialty). He went from an F to an A over the course of the year. I tutored at the UTA math clinic for a year. I got my Bachelor's in Math at UTA in 2001 with a 3.5 GPA in my math classes.

Also, tutoring works best if you have a list of topics you'd like to cover. I know nearly all levels of math, but need to focus on the specific topics you need. Bear in mind, this may change if we need to cover background and foundation material.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Happy tutoring,
Nick

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have extensive experience with Algebra 1 students. I have taught this material with Tarrant County College. Students walk away from each session with a better understanding than what they began with.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I taught Algebra II as a full-time teacher in the public school system for a semester.
ASVAB

ASVAB

I tutor anything and everything math. I know a little bit of the science, auto repair, electronics, English topics.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have been studying the Bible for 25 years. I have been in church my whole life, nearly 40 years. I am currently active in two church communities which are both focused on seeing people set free of issues holding them back. I considered getting a Master's in seminary, but decided living out the knowledge I currently have is much more important than obtaining more knowledge.
Calculus

Calculus

My Calculus students develop a much better understanding of the course. I've successfully tutored calculus many times before. I'm highly effective with high school AP Calculus, both AB and BC, Calculus for Engineers or Math Majors and Business Calculus, etc.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I tutored a student through Differential Equations successfully helping him get a good grade in the class. I worked a hundred or so Differential Equations questions simply to review the subject for future students. I also have a very strong background in Calculus I & II which serve as the basis for Differential Equations. I am familiar with the following ODE's & topics: Linear/Integrating Factors, Exact, Separable, Bernoulli, both types of Homogeneous, Wronskian, existence of solutions, etc. I also took a full semester of Linear Algebra so am well prepared to tutor that aspect of the combined Linear Algebra/Diff. Eq. course most engineers take. Differential Equations will likely be higher than my usual rate.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

Last year, I worked a hundred or so Discrete Math questions simply to review the subject for future students. While earning my Math degree, I took a course titled Advanced Discrete Math, a course titled Logic and a Computer Science course titled Theoretical Concepts. The degree included 21 more hours of Computer Science which included applications of discrete math such as Boolean Algebra, recursion and Venn diagrams.
Geometry

Geometry

I taught geometry in a public high school. I've been tutoring off and on for 5 to 10 years. I earned my by Bachelor's in mathematics from UTA.
GMAT

GMAT

I have tutored multiple GMAT Math students in the past. I have also taught classes for GRE preparation, the more general test to get into graduate schools, for several years. I have significant expertise in math & specialize in higher level or college math.
GRE

GRE

I have taught GRE Math classes for several years. I know the GRE Math expectations inside out & upside down.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

While earning my B.S. in Math at the University of Texas at Arlington, I earned an A in Matrices & Linear Algebra. I refreshed some of it in a related graduate school course. While tutoring high school & college students, I regularly use or know how to use nearly every matrix function on the TI-83/84 calculator.
Logic

Logic

I studied logic for a full semester at University of Texas at Austin. While earning a Math degree at the University of Texas at Arlington and Austin including 27 more hours in Computer Science I learned & applied logic extensively.
Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access

I have a minor in Computer Science and have been using Access since 1994. I took a college course in database design and use Access if I need to work with large datasets. My friends and family frequently ask me for computer advice.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is one of my specialties. I excel where the material gets complex because I love pulling students up to a higher level of math understanding.
Statistics

Statistics

Statistics has many levels from UT Arlington's freshman statistics course, which I know very thoroughly to graduate level statistics for social science programs. Courses on the college junior level and higher, I would function more like a study partner than a traditional tutor.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have tutored multiple students specifically in Trigonometry. I particularly enjoy the higher level classes like Trigonometry because the students are more mature and the material is more challenging.

Knowledgeable in Calculus & Explains Well

We are very lucky to have found Nick. My son is going to take AP Calculus AB test in May. I ended up getting two tutors on a different online platform first: the first tutor pretended he knew what he was doing but missed most of the problems in the two weeks working with my son (once they checked the answer key together), and the second tutor was honest and told my son that he could not tutor Calculus at the very first class. We moved on to this platform and found Nick here. Nick is VERY knowledgeable with Calculus. I realized how rare that is after our above-mentioned experience. My son seemed a lot more confident after the very first class with Nick. I know he will do well on his test with Nick's help. We will definitely continue working with Nick when my son takes the next Calculus. This time, we are going to start from Day 1, and not wait until almost test time. I would recommend Nick to anyone with no reservation.

Just what we needed.

My college age son has anxiety and is extremely shy to ask for help in college. Nick was able to step in and help him review some topics last minute. He was very knowledgeable patient and thorough. We will definitely use Nick agaiin the future!

Great calculus tutor

Nick is very knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to make sure my daughter really understood the material. He also showed her shortcuts on the calculator she has never learned before. Excellent tutor!

Exceptional Math Tutor — Highly Recommend!

We could not be happier with Nick! Both of my sons have worked with him regularly, and the results have been remarkable. One of my sons came to Nick needing support in Algebra 2. With Nick’s help, he not only gained confidence and mastery of the material, but ultimately was named the Math Department Student of the Year in a class of about 500 students. My other son started working with Nick while struggling in Honors Pre-Calculus and went from struggling to thriving—first in Pre-Calc and then in AP Calculus AB. He got an A in the class and scored a 5 on the AP test. What sets Nick apart is the way he teaches. He explains concepts incredibly clearly, and we love how he works through problems by hand while projecting his work onto the screen. More importantly, he doesn’t simply solve problems for his students. He’ll ask, “What would you do next?” and gently prompt and nudge them in the right direction, helping them develop the confidence and critical-thinking skills to solve problems themselves. Nick is also excellent at reading the student in front of him and adjusting his approach accordingly. He is patient, thoughtful, encouraging, and genuinely gifted at teaching math. We are incredibly grateful to have found Nick. His rates are very reasonable for the quality of instruction he provides, and I recommend him without hesitation. Five stars all the way!

Great tutor for Algebra 2

We’re hired Nick twice, he did a great job actually teaching. He knows the material and has a great way of communicating how to tackle the concepts. We’ve gone through a few tutors on this subject but Will definitely hire Nick again.

Knowledgeable, easy to understand, and kind tutor.

Nick prepared himself in advance to tailor the lesson, paced the information according to my needs, was very clear about the formula steps, and was an empathic person to work with. I appreciated his help.
