Hello, I'm Connor! I was born in San Antonio and now live in Arlington, but I've been a Texas resident my entire life. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude!) and Materials Science Engineering minor, from the University of Texas at Arlington in Spring 2025, and have now begun my journey as a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at UTA. As a person who has spent my life learning, I understand how hearing something from a person who is genuinely interested in their topic can make all the difference.
A key part of problem solving is to have a thoughtful understanding of everything I run into. When I learn something new, I start from the concepts and prove to myself how it came to be, so I can have confidence every time I use that knowledge that I am using it correctly. That is exactly my teaching philosophy! In any topic we are covering, we will first go into detail where that topic came from (such as a derivation!) before seeing how it can be applied to problems. I am determined to cover the basics until you are a master, no matter how long that takes! Everybody has a unique learning style and their preferred style will always be the key to learning.
I have three years of experience with UTA's Academic Success Center as both a 1-on-1 tutor, and as a Supplemental Instruction leader for groups of up to 40 students! This experience is backed by a CRLA certification for tutoring earned over these years as well as specialized trainings. I am most experienced with fundamental STEM courses (general problem solving skills, vector math, unit conversions, and many 1st and 2nd year courses), as well as high-school and college algebra, trigonometry, matrix algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus.
If you have a question about a specific class or topic within a class, please reach out and I will gladly let you know how I can help! I will respond quickly to any questions or requests. Thank you!
