I am a cybersecurity professor and experienced security professional who enjoys helping students understand not only what cybersecurity concepts mean, but how they work in real environments. I hold a Doctor of Engineering degree focused on cybersecurity and industry certifications including CISSP, CISA, CDPSE, and QSA. I bring more than a decade of professional cybersecurity experience into my teaching, allowing me to connect textbook concepts with practical situations students are likely to encounter in school, certification exams, and the workplace.
I currently teach college-level cybersecurity courses covering areas such as network security, firewalls, penetration testing, digital forensics, operating system security, intrusion detection and prevention, cryptography, and cybercrime. I have worked with undergraduate students, adult learners, career changers, and cybersecurity professionals with a wide range of experience levels. My teaching style is highly practical: I break complicated topics into understandable pieces, use realistic scenarios and hands-on examples, and then help students develop the reasoning needed to solve problems independently rather than simply memorize answers.
I can help students with cybersecurity coursework, networking and security fundamentals, Linux, ethical hacking concepts, digital forensics, security governance and risk concepts, as well as preparation for certifications such as CISSP, CISA, and Security+. I am also comfortable helping working professionals strengthen their cybersecurity knowledge, prepare for technical interviews, or better understand concepts they encounter on the job. My goal is for each student to leave a session understanding both the answer and the reasoning behind it.
