Hello, my name is Amanda! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While in college, I homeschooled two elementary grade students in my community, and I completed an internship in a local public elementary school's remedial reading intervention class for grades K-2. During this time, I also tutored a young man seeking to pass his ASVAB. For the last 3 years, I have had the privilege of homeschooling my twin daughters in K-2nd grade. This lead to an opportunity to be a private history and geography tutor/teacher for a 2nd grade student in my local community.
As someone who loves learning, I fell in love with teaching and guiding students as they navigate their studies. Coming alongside a child and being able help them in their education is an honor. My goal in that process is to make that journey fun, exciting, and engaging. Learning should be fun, not a chore! My lesson plans are structured and creative. I blend the required material with fun games, projects, and supplemental material to ensure full integration in the topic or subject at hand.
I fully recognize that every student is unique in their learning style and needs, so I am always open to suggestions and resources that students and parents want to provide. The key to learning is to make it personal and individual. I believe when you can tap into a child's unique learning style and needs, then the sky is the limit with what they can accomplish. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson.
