I am a passionate, positive, and effective educator who cares deeply for each of my students. My interests include every thing outdoors, carpentry, and spending time with my family. I majored in Agribusiness with a minor in Spanish at Texas A&M University.
During college I developed a passion for helping youth as a volunteer at an after school program. This eventually developed into a desire to teach. I answered this call by spending 5 months as a tutor and aid for a non profit private school serving an underserved community in Guatemala City.
After returning from Guatemala I obtained my teaching certificate in Early childhood through 6th grade. I am also certified to teach English as a second language. While earning my certifications I began volunteering at a local charter school where I later taught as a kindergarten teacher for 3 years. I loved my kindergartners and I developed a passion for teaching phonics and number sense. Next, I searched for an opportunity to grow at R. Elementary where I was taught to set high expectations for my 4 graders. I participated in several hundred hours of of professional development where educators were met with the same high expectations we were taught to set for our students. In this professional development we actively modeled best practices and developed strategies to respond to and adapt to specific student needs. We set measurable goals and measured students progress in real time. Most importantly we saw positive outcomes in students. At R. Elementary I received TIA Recognized Designation for meeting rigorous standards in student growth.
In my experience as an educator I found one ingredient that was essential for positive student outcomes; identifying specific and measurable students needs and responding to them in real time with specific and measurable goals. With each lesson your child will be given a lesson objective responding to their specific individual need as well as a pre and post assessment to measure progress and mastery.
