I have taught in Texas and Alaska. I have worked in multiple settings: elementary schools, middle schools, homeschool, and then in open concept and, of course traditional settings. So, I know school can be fun anywhere if given the chance. I am currently certified in Texas for K-8 grade with a specialization in Life and Earth Science. I actually spent a number of years in what is called a self-contained setting, so I have "taught it all"! I have spent the last 4 years tutoring online and enjoy finding where a student is, checking for any missing skills, and seeing just how far we can achieve.

For fun, I make Renaissance costumes for my family as well as beautiful quilts. There is a lot of math that goes into quilting. I enjoy teaching a Women's Bible Study at my church and have a lot of fun doing activities with those ladies! Life is exciting and when you add grandchildren to the mix, it is full and always new. These interests keep me fresh and sharp for teaching my students that I meet online.

But, what you really want to know is what am I like as a teacher?! Well, I love fun. In order to have fun, I need to get to know my student. I want to know, not only what they need, but what do they enjoy, are they feeling brave this year, or are they struggling so much they are sad? I am asking myself, what seems to be at the root of why you are looking for a tutor? I look for ways to accomplish your goals and try to keep variety in how we go about achieving that goal. I have utilized direct instruction, games, hands-on techniques, art, music, cards, dice, and just about anything else I have ever heard of. I will do my best to connect with your child, and be honest with you along the journey. Let's get started!
