Learning mathematics, physics and other sciences should be fun. My lessons are individualized to make learning not only practical but, interesting and exciting. My goal as tutor is to help students develop an understanding of course material, develop critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity, and provide opportunities to excel beyond the normal course material.
For students that want to explore science and mathematics beyond the typical course material, I can help with self motivated projects, extra credit and science fair projects. Elementary and high school projects I have helped with include:
Seeing the Stars and Beyond
3D Computer Tracking of Hand-eye Motions
Participating in Simulated Medical Scenarios
Generating Electricity from Rain

William is a fantastic tutor. I do not often have time during the week to go through all of the problems I should and each time I ask to go over something for a second, third, or even fourth time he is more than willing to. William is great at tying in real life situations where some complex math is used. This is incredibly helpful for me. I give William a 100% AAA rating and would encourage anyone needing a tutor in Amarillo to get in contact with him!
He is always on time and returns emails promptly. He is very patient and is helping my son a great deal. We are very pleased!
William, thank you for helping my son yesterday! Semester tests are here and he feels much better with you help. He really likes you. Thanks again.
Only one lesson and she's already feeling better about Physics! We are confident that we have found the answer to understanding Physics. Thanks, Bill!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring students for over 20 years with about 20% of the students having been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. My methods include assisting these students in organizing seemingly large problems into smaller tasks and treating each smaller task as a goal in itself. I reinforce good work and behavior with immediate praise. I provide step by step instructions using visual aids like colored charts, pictures, animations, and other means that hold attention. Typically, these students increase their grade point by 1 point.
I have over forty years of experience in industrial, communication, and medical electronics engineering fields. I taught electronics at a community college and tutored over 20 students in elementary and advanced electronics. I hold an AAS in electronics and a BS in math and physics. My goal is to help you learn electronics and have fun doing so.
I have over 15 years of experience helping K-6 students with studies and particularly in areas of mathematics and science. My goal is to help the student develop a firm understanding of the material, learn test-taking methods, and have fun doing so. I have over 20 years of experience helping students prepare for qualifying and standardized tests (like TAKS, STAAR and others) particularly in areas of mathematics and science. I know that test preparation is stressful. My goal is to help you understand the material, learn test taking methods, and have fun doing so.
