Hello, I'm Prithika! I recently graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science and a minor in Chemistry. In college, I was required to take chemistry as part of my premed coursework and often struggled. However, my teaching assistants helped in building my confidence and nurturing my interest in the subject. As a result of their efforts, I decided to pursue a chemistry minor.
As an upperclassman, I served as a teaching assistant for introductory chemistry, primarily teaching freshmen from underrepresented backgrounds. With complete control over how I structured my class, I paid close attention to how I could best serve my students in an active learning environment, adjusting my strategies from semester to semester to maximize their engagement with the subject. I appreciated seeing students develop the confidence to continue taking chemistry coursework, and this enthusiasm is what brought me to tutor with Wyzant.
As a student who used to struggle in the traditional premed subjects myself, I've developed an intuition for where other students tend to struggle as well. Going on to score in the 98th percentile on the MCAT, I want students to not only achieve their short-term goals but also develop learning and studying strategies that continue to benefit them in their careers.
