Hi, I’m Braxton! I’m a CPA with a passion for making challenging subjects feel a little less intimidating. I earned bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Entrepreneurship from Baylor University before earning my Master’s in Accounting from Boise State University. Shortly after graduate school, I became a CPA, passing all four sections of the CPA Exam on my first attempt. My education and professional experience have given me a strong foundation in accounting, business, Excel, and quantitative problem-solving.
While I’m new to formal tutoring, helping others learn has been a consistent part of my life. During college, I mentored fellow college students and participated in a mentorship program with local high school students in Waco. More recently, I’ve helped my girlfriend study throughout nursing school. These experiences have taught me that sometimes understanding a difficult subject isn’t just about knowing the material, it’s also about how you approach it.
My tutoring style is laid back, encouraging, and focused on building confidence. I’ve found that when we see a difficult question, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by how hard we think it will be instead of focusing on what the question is actually asking. I like to slow things down, take the pressure out of the situation, and break challenging problems into manageable pieces, rather than simply giving you an answer, I want us to identify what the problem is asking, work through the reasoning together, and build the confidence to tackle similar problems independently. Whether we’re working through accounting or math, my goal is for you to leave our session understanding not only the answer, but why it makes sense.
