I am currently entering my sophomore year of college and have a strong academic background in mathematics and standardized testing. In high school, I completed a concurrent calculus course that covered both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC material in a single semester and earned an A. I have also completed coursework in Linear Algebra, Statistics, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. In addition to my math background, I scored 34 on the ACT. These achievements have provided me with a firm foundation for tutoring students in mathematics, test preparation, and academic skills.

My tutoring experience began in high school through Mu Alpha Theta, where I regularly volunteered as a peer tutor. Throughout my entire high school experience, particularly my sophomore and junior years, I spent most lunch periods helping fellow students with coursework and test preparation. Over time, I worked with most of my class at some point in time in one-on-one and small-group settings, assisting them with subjects ranging from Algebra and Geometry to Pre-Calculus and Calculus. I also helped students prepare for the math sections of the SAT and ACT by teaching problem-solving strategies, reviewing core concepts, and helping them develop confidence under timed testing conditions.

My teaching method focuses on comprehension rather than memorization. I break challenging concepts into smaller, manageable steps and adapt explanations to each student's learning style. I value mastery and comprehension over results; those will follow. I help them understand the reasoning behind the solution so they can apply the same principles independently in the future. My experience working with high school students of varying skill levels has strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to foster a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities.

SAT Math

My qualification to tutor SAT Math starts with my own results and the math I use every day. I scored a 34 on the ACT, in roughly the top one percent nationally, and the SAT covers the same core math — algebra, problem solving and data analysis, and the geometry and trig in the advanced section. As a Mechanical Engineering student at Southern Methodist University, in the University Honors Program and a Provost Scholar, I work in algebra and higher math constantly, so these fundamentals are second nature. I also graduated high school Summa Cum Laude as an AP Scholar with Distinction. My teaching experience is hands-on. Throughout my sophomore and junior years of high school, I tutored peers in algebra and calculus during nearly every lunch period, one on one and in small groups. That taught me to find exactly where a student is stuck, explain an idea in more than one way, and stay patient until it clicks — and those skills apply directly to coaching someone through the SAT math section. For SAT Math specifically, I focus on what actually moves scores: recognizing the question types the test reuses, choosing the fastest method, managing timing across the calculator and no-calculator sections, and turning every missed problem into a lesson so the same mistake doesn't repeat on test day. I'm also fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, so I can support students who learn best in more than one language.
Spanish

Spanish

I was born in Mexico, Spanish is my first language, and I took Spanish 1-4 in high school, including AP Spanish. I can read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.
