I love tutoring. I love seeing frustration and confusion turn into comprehension and hope and excitement. I first worked as a tutor in high school, where I was an honor student. I scored 32 on my ACT and 1410 on my SAT back in 1987. I went to school at Texas A&M for two years and McLennan Community College for a couple more before leaving school to work and raise a family. During school, I worked as a tutor at MCC, in the Support Services Program, and also with high school and college students privately. More recently, I have been working with coworkers on state licensing exams, helping them with algebra-level math problems, some chemistry, some biology, and lots of study skills. I am currently a returning-to-school college student, working on my bachelor's degree. I finished up an associate's degree this past summer.
I am very proficient in Spanish, Chemistry, Biology, Math up to Calculus, and English writing and composition. I guided my daughter through homeschooling Spanish, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I work with students to use auditory learning, visual learning, and haptic learning, accentuating their natural strengths, but using multiple avenues of study to maximize learning. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is to be able to explain complex problems or concepts by breaking them down into simpler terms.
