Literature and Language Tutoring

Hello! I'm Briana. I've been a tutor since high school, when I was a student for both the National Honors Society and National English Honors Society and a tutor for AP English Literature and AP English Language. While in college at Swarthmore, I was a tutor for our Dare2Soar program, which worked with elementary and middle school-aged children. While studying abroad in Nagoya, Japan for a year I acted as an ESL tutor for high school and adult-age learners.
I truly enjoy tutoring, particularly literature and languages, as you can probably tell from above. Now that I'm back in Tennessee, I would love to go back to tutoring in my home town!

I worked as a Japanese tutor for my college-aged classmates for two years at Swarthmore College, have studied abroad for one year in Japan, and have a minor in Japanese language. I haven't officially taken the JLPT, but my professors have placed me in the high N3/low N2 range in proficiency.

I have primarily been an English and ACT tutor since my time in high school. Since I've recently graduated college, you can see that it's been quite a few years of tutoring. I also worked as a proofreader throughout high school and university, and have received multiple writing awards and recognition (such as being a YoungArts program) that hopefully attest to my writing skills. As for the ACT, I received a 31 overall score, with near-perfect scores in the English and Reading portions and a perfect ACT writing score.
