As a published author, artist, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), speaker, and workshop facilitator, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to helping students develop their skills in writing, communication, creativity, and self-expression. I hold an Associate of Arts degree and have continued my education through creative writing coursework, art instruction, and ongoing professional development. My experience includes writing and publishing children's books, adult fiction, blog articles, speeches, and creative projects, as well as years of public speaking, leadership, and presentation experience.

My teaching and mentoring experience comes through one-on-one guidance, workshops, speaking engagements, and years of helping others strengthen their communication and creative skills. Through Toastmasters and other speaking opportunities, I have developed expertise in speech organization, audience engagement, storytelling, confidence-building, and effective communication. As both an author and artist, I understand the creative process from idea development through completion and enjoy helping students navigate their own creative journeys.

I work with students of varying experience levels and learning styles, adapting my approach to meet their individual goals. Whether a student is seeking help with creative writing, public speaking, drawing, acting, personal statements, proofreading, or overall communication skills, I focus on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where growth and confidence can flourish.

My goal is not only to help students improve their technical skills but also to help them discover their unique voice, develop confidence in their abilities, and achieve their personal and academic goals. I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and empowering, and I strive to make each session both productive and enjoyable.

Creative Writing

I have significant experience in creative writing as a published author, blogger, storyteller, and public speaker. My work includes children's books, fiction, nonfiction, blog articles, speeches, and ongoing novel projects. Through years of writing and studying the craft, I have developed skills in character development, plot structure, dialogue, world-building, descriptive writing, and storytelling techniques. In addition to my publishing experience, I have completed college-level coursework and continue to actively study and practice creative writing. As both a writer and speaker, I understand the importance of engaging an audience, creating compelling narratives, and communicating ideas in a way that connects with readers. I enjoy helping students develop their creativity while strengthening the technical aspects of writing. My approach focuses on generating ideas, developing characters, improving dialogue, organizing plots, enhancing descriptive details, and finding each writer's unique voice. Whether a student is working on fiction, memoirs, short stories, essays, children's literature, or personal projects, I provide supportive guidance and constructive feedback to help them grow as writers. I believe creative writing should be both enjoyable and rewarding, and I strive to create an encouraging environment where students can build confidence, improve their skills, and bring their stories to life.

I have a strong background in drawing and visual art developed through many years of personal practice, artistic study, and hands-on creative work. As an artist and author, I regularly use drawing and design as part of my creative process, creating original artwork and visual concepts. My experience includes developing skills in observation, proportion, shading, composition, perspective, and creative expression through ongoing study and artistic exploration. In addition to years of independent artistic work, I have continued to refine my skills through formal art instruction and practical application. I have completed college-level art coursework, further strengthening my understanding of artistic techniques, visual composition, and creative expression. My artwork has included commissioned pieces that were donated to a conference silent auction, demonstrating both artistic skill and the ability to create custom work based on a client's vision. I work in a variety of mediums, including graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. This diverse experience allows me to help students explore different techniques while building a strong foundation in drawing fundamentals. I enjoy helping students build confidence in their artistic abilities while strengthening core drawing techniques. My teaching approach is supportive, patient, and adaptable to each student's skill level and goals. I guide students through exercises that improve observation, line quality, shading, composition, perspective, and creative expression, creating an encouraging environment where they can grow at their own pace and develop their own artistic voice.

Through Toastmasters and my professional experience, I have developed strong skills in speech organization, vocal delivery, body language, audience connection, storytelling, and persuasive communication. As an author, workshop facilitator, and public speaker, I understand how to communicate ideas clearly, confidently, and effectively to a variety of audiences. I work with students to build confidence, reduce speaking anxiety, and develop their own authentic speaking style. My approach focuses on speech structure, vocal variety, pacing, effective body language, audience engagement, and techniques for managing nerves.
