Hello! I am a math tutor currently enrolled in a Ph.D program at the University of Vermont's college of engineering and mathematical sciences. I have experience teaching at a variety of levels, most recently as a Lecturer at Purdue University. I plan on being a full professor of mathematics one day, so suffice it to say that I have a real passion for teaching math. I have been in love with the subject since I was a little kid, and know what it is like to have to work to truly understand the topic.

My biggest strength is my ability to connect with anybody, and it is my personal philosophy that the largest portion of learning is being able to connect with the teacher. Where a K-12 (and beyond!) student may be frustrated with their math teacher, that same student will have a lot less frustration when they are getting help from a current student who still recognizes and understands the struggles of learning math.

Where many math tutors struggle is coming to every single student with the same approach, using a one-size-fits-all teaching method. I set myself apart by personalizing my teaching to the student. My tutoring is very flexible to accommodate for difficulties in certain topics, while still keeping up the proper pace to excel in tests and other class work. I gained this through years of tutoring my peers in high school and college, finding that we made the most progress when I was able to connect with the student as someone who could understand another student's viewpoint.

In case you're interested, my personal favorite subjects are calculus, precalculus, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and finite math! I also really enjoy tutoring for tests like the ACT, SAT, PSAT, PERT, and other standardized tests of that nature.

I encourage any questions or inquiries into what my tutoring would look like for you or your child. I am very easy to get a hold of, and usually respond within an hour or two, so please do not hesitate to get in contact with me. Thanks!

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I received a 35 on the math section of the ACT. I mean, it may not be the absolute top score, but it is literally the next best thing!
Calculus

Calculus

I received a 5/5 on both the calculus AB and BC AP tests. I have experience with multivariable calculus.
Finite Math

Finite Math

My own personal study is in the field of finite mathematics. I am currently enrolled in my PhD program in the field of combinatorics, which is basically exactly what a finite mathematician gets their PhD in.
Geometry

Geometry

Not only have I taken middle/high school geometry, but I also took the college level geometry class, which covers more than enough to satisfy teaching a course in Euclidean (middle/high-school-level) geometry.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I received a 5/5 on both the AB and BC sections of the AP calculus exams, and I also took multivariable calculus in undergrad.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I took the ACT rather than the SAT, so scores for myself do not exist. However, I did take both of the SAT math subject tests, and scored in the 94th percentile on the level 1 test, which would have the material closest to what you would need for the general test.
Algebra 1
Algebra 2
Prealgebra
PSAT
Trigonometry

Knowledgeable and patient teacher

My daughter tells me that Keith helped her understand concepts that she is learning in her AP Calculus class that she wasn't grasping before her session tonight. She thought he was a great teacher! Thank you Keith!

Excellent tutor for student athletes

Keith tutored my son in AP Calculus AB for a year. He is remarkable. My son often had to leave school for showcase tournaments/events, and therefore missed important curriculum. His first quarter grade was a "D". Keith began tutoring him weekly. My son's grades quickly improved, and he received an A- in the final quarter. He also feels good about the AP exam (taken yesterday). Equally important, in my opinion, is to find a tutor that your child "connects" with. As an athlete himself, Keith's style resonated. He is on task, "no nonsense," and 100% able to quickly "fill in the gaps" as required. It is also worthy to note that Keith communicated very well with me, the parent. I tend to be more "hands-off"; this said, I appreciated the occasional updates, thoughtful lesson summaries,

Great Calculus Tutor

My son has had one tutoring session with Keith, and it was excellent. Keith carefully explained the AP Calculus AB concepts that my son wasn't grasping. My son (17M) found him easy to understand and relatable.

A world of difference

My daughter had straight A’s last year with an excellent teacher, but wasn’t so fortunate this year. Keith was so good explaining the material, that she’s back on track. Thank you Keith! You’re the best.

excellent teacher for my boys

Keith had a great connection with my kids. My boys really connected as he challenged them in their math studies. They enjoyed their lesson and look forward to the next ones. I highly recommend Keith as a tutor as he is excited about teaching!

Exceptional, knowledgeable, and patient

Under Keith’s tutelage, my daughter is more confident with math. He has gone above and beyond my expectations of a tutor. If my daughter understands her homework, Keith takes her to the next level of the unit that she is learning. In addition, he always gives her extra worksheets to strengthen her skills.
