About Stephanie

My passion for education started when I was 4 years old as I learned to read. The efforts required to learn at such an early age stayed with me into my adulthood as I completed high school, undergraduate studies, and went on to earn my M. B. A. My college journey occurred in step with a well developed career of 10+ years in Corporate America. In 2014, I was accepted to a prestigious Ph. D. program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (they only accept 2 students/year). Much to the surprise of my husband and I, we started expecting our son shortly after I began the program. Given the rigors of academia, we made the decision that I would go back into the workforce as I became MOM instead of Doctor (I definitely got the better end of that deal!). Now that my son is here, I have decided to pursue my dream of teaching but instead of being a professor I will now be a tutor!

I have a strong background in many subjects (Math, English, Business) but given my aptitude for standardized testing, that is my main focus for tutoring at this point. I successfully passed the GMAT with a score high enough to qualify for the Ph.D. program at the University of Tennessee, therefore I feel that I am definitely qualified to work with individuals on issues they face when prepping for this exam. Not only am I strong in the Quant and Verbal sections, but I am very organized to help my students develop a study plan for success in the amount of time they have available before the exam.

Please contact me to learn more about what I have to offer in relation to tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASVAB

I am an expert test prep tutor.

Business

I have an undergraduate degree in business - Organizational Management. I also have an M.B.A. which is business intensive. Finally, I have over 10 years in corporate business - specifically in management, supply chain, and marketing.

GED

I took the GED back in 2000. I have since graduated college and got a masters degree.

Marketing

As the Marketing Manager for the Casting division of Alcoa, Inc. I have learned various key lessons in the field of marketing. Coupled with my M.B.A. and also experience working in Sales, I feel that my education and experience can help guide a student who is looking to strengthen their understanding of marketing. I am also interested in teaching how marketing and supply chain go hand-in-hand.

Microsoft Outlook

I use the entire Microsoft Office suite on a daily basis. I have been using Microsoft Outlook for 10 years. I am an expert level from managing emails and pst files to scheduling meetings and navigating the calendar. I also utilize the task bar and categories to stay organized and focused.

Public Speaking

I mastered my Public Speaking course in college. In fact, my instructor videoed my delivery of 3 speeches to use for her distance learning courses. In addition, I have presented numerous topics throughout my career and I have mastered the ability to remain calm and cool in front of a crowd.

Study Skills

I majored in "Organizational Management" for my undergraduate degree as it is essential to manage and balance all areas of a company together. The management of study skills is no different. The best approach to understanding how to have strong study skills it to understand how to be organized and aligned with what is being required of you. I have years of experience with organizing coursework for my students as well as helping to develop a "plan of attack" in tackling an enormous workload.

I have taken numerous standardized tests, which require sufficient planning and organization to ensure full preparation. Not only is it essential to know what you need to study, but the development of a timeline and plan of execution is necessary to be ready on test day.
