I am an AP Chemistry teacher in Nolensville, TN. I graduated from Oberlin College in 2017, and I have lived in the Nashville area ever since. I earned my Masters and PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2022. During my time at Oberlin College, I worked as a tutor at both the college and the local high school. I privately tutored high school students and groups of undergraduate students. Since coming to Nashville, I have worked as a TA in both a laboratory and classroom context at Vanderbilt University, and I have tutored not only my students at the time, but also some students privately through the university's Department of Chemistry.
My entire education since high school has centered around chemistry, namely General and Organic Chemistry. As a graduate student, I worked with the basic principles of the field every day. Also, as a current high school teacher, I have had the opportunity to work with many students from different academic backgrounds. These experiences led to a strong drive to make the material as accessible as possible, tuned specifically to the student. I have a passion for chemistry that students have reported radiating from my explanations, and I try to inspire that same confidence in those with whom I work. I have no doubt that I can help students struggling with this subject gain a better understanding of the material, as well as maybe even an appreciation for the wonders of the atomic world.
