Starting something new or figuring out how to take it to the next level can be challenging, but I am here to guide you every step of the way. Since 2020, I have dedicated over 8,000 hours to teaching more than 200 students across various subjects including Music, Spanish, English, and College Prep on multiple platforms. In 2022 I was recognized for my comprehensive musical skill set and interpersonal skills, which appointed me the Music Director at Timber Lake Camp. My knack for tutoring started at Berklee College of Music in 2018, where I tutored over 80 students in Music Technology and Music Theory. I’ve learned that learning is all about enthusiasm for the subject and a good tutor makes that contagious. There is always a way to make learning enjoyable and effective, and I am committed to helping you discover that joy in your educational journey. Let's make learning fun together!

A little bit about me: I currently live in Nashville TN where I compose, produce and perform. I spend my weekends playing coast to coast as a multi-instrumentalist with a Southern Rock band. My weeks are filled lessons and production sessions. Some of my credits lie amongst CMTs Next Women in Country, basement grudging indie rock bands and Electro Pop international touring artists. I was raised in Mexico City, Mexico where I attended a British International School. Upon graduating from high school I moved to the US to further pursue my music. Music, traveling and connecting with people are my passions. On my time off, I frequently camp and plan trips to National Parks

With me, you can learn to sight-read, identify intervals, recognize harmony, break down complex rhythmic structures, and translate the music within you onto your instrument or voice.
General Music

General Music

Music is an abstract subject, challenging to define with words. That is why I approach each lesson with the same enthusiasm that my professors at Berklee College of Music, IGCSE, and IB instilled in me. I have taken on many roles, from composing tonal music and arranging for big bands to touring internationally with alternative rock bands, conducting film scoring orchestras, and writing analysis papers that connect historical perspectives and social phenomena to music. I can help you with any of your music needs!
Guitar

Guitar

With 10 years of professional touring and recording experience on guitar and bass, I have played both international and national tours and recorded with Grammy Award-winning producers like Joe West (Keith Urban, Vince Gill). I have been teaching acoustic nylon, steel-string, and electric guitar for over 15 years. The guitar and bass are tools for me to explore the world's music and culture, and I love to incorporate that into my lessons. Under my tutelage, a dozen students have entered Berklee College of Music, the Musicians Institute, and received certifications like the ABRSM.

My most popular course, Music Production, encompasses many roles. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, gaining five years of industry experience in Nashville's Music City with 50 songs in my portfolio, and a mentorship by Grammy Award-winning producer Joe West (Keith Urban, Vince Gill) - I am prepared to help you take your production to the next level! I am trained in Mac OS to work with many DAWS such as Logic Pro X, Pro Tools 12, Ableton 9, Reason, and Sibelius. Having used many sample libraries such as Kontakt and Vienna Ensemble. I've learn to write arrangements for small ensembles (bands), a cappella groups, big bands, and orchestras. We can cover all topics, including writing, arranging, audio engineering, sound design, mixing engineering, conducting, and software and hardware management.
Music Theory

Music Theory

As a music theory student, you will benefit from my comprehensive knowledge and practical approach. Whether you are a beginner looking to grasp the basics or an advanced student aiming to refine your skills, I am committed to guiding you through every aspect of music theory. Together, we will delve into the fundamental concepts of melody, harmony, rhythm, and form, as well as more advanced topics such as voice leading, harmonic analysis, and compositional techniques. My education and experience stems from a dual Bachelor's degree in Music in Songwriting and Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, as well as certificates from the IGCSE and IB, I have worked in a diverse range of musical styles, including Gregorian chant, Counterpoint, Tonal Harmony, Minimalism, 12 Tone Row, Serialism, 12-bar blues, and Jazz, to name a few. My extensive education and hands-on experience have equipped me with a deep understanding of music theory, allowing me to explore the intricacies of different genres and techniques.
Piano

Piano

With 5 years of professional touring and recording experience on piano and keyboard instruments, I have played both international and national tours and recorded with Grammy Award-winning producers like Joe West (Keith Urban, Vince Gill). I have been teaching classical, jazz and blues piano for over 10 years. The piano is a tool for me to explore the world's music history and culture, and I love to incorporate that into my lessons. Under my tutelage, a dozen students have entered Berklee College of Music, Belmont, Musicians Institute, and received certifications like the ABRSM.

Very knowledgeable, good problem-solving...

Michael is very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging.

Today we got into the weeds of the technical arrangements of the mixer that I am using... I loke that he went to the direct model and we discussed all its components and what and when to use them. I am definitely feeling more confident to use my equipment as a direct result of his training and am eager to put my newfound knowledge to use!!!
