Walseka has a varied approach that includes not only formal aspects but encourages the use of everyday subjects as class materials, such as news, movies, personal stories, etc. For me, speaking another language is the most difficult hurdle, with her multi-faced approach I have made good progress in the months she has worked with me. And finally to simply state it, I just really enjoyed every session we had over several months!

Synergistic lessons which helped me in my work in Brazil.

I salute Waleska Rehbein as a tutor. I was headed to events in Sao Paulo and Brasilia, and wanted to be able both to engage in small talk with colleagues and to speak in Portuguese for the opening paragraph of my speech. With Waleska’s tutoring, we moved at a fast speed to learn the words and sentences, and to ask simple questions. As a Brazilian, she also provided useful information about culture and politics. Perfect for homeschool

Waleska taught my middle school son for over a year and half, and it was such a postive experience. His skill level increased exponentially, but even more importantly, he enjoyed every class and the her style of teaching. And my child isn't necessarily an eagar student. He has to respect the teacher, and he adored Waleska. When I first reached out, she and I spoke about my expectations. We wanted to take language 2-3 times a week, year round. She then worked with my son for a few lessons and came back to me with a proposal to have three lessons a week for a half an hour. She also suggested the text books that would best suit his learning style. Then they meet consistently three times a week for two academic years. If either of us had to change the schedule for conflicts or vacation, we worked it out easily the week ahead. As a homeschool parent, I can't say enough about how well this went. Waleska was our only tutor outside our immediate location but being online was no problem except we are sad we weren't ever able to meet her in person. The only reason we aren't continuing is that my son is going back to high school next year. I'm sure being comfortable with Portuguese, a critical language, and one that non-native speakers don't know enough, helped strengthen his applications. Waleska also assisted us by writing his yearly language progress and evaluation letters to the city for homeschoolers. We are sad to end our time with Waleska but have full confidence that his abilities in Portuguese will help hime with other langugages and we hope he continues to study Portuguese even though it isn't offered in his school. If you have a homeschooler that wants to study Portuguese, Waleska will be great. She's really good with middle schoolers and that as we all know, is a gift! We are so lucky to have found her.
