My name is Juan and I am a professional drummer living in Nashville, TN. As a full-time touring and session musician, I have worked with bands in genres like rock, metal, country, and jazz. I have had the privilege to perform in world-famous festivals across the American continent, performances that span several countries, and work alongside artists that have inspired me for years. Currently, I'm expanding my teaching practice, as I have a passion for sharing my insights into the instrument and learning from my students' perspectives.
I was born in Quito, Ecuador, and have been playing drums for over 14 years, and teaching drums for 8. Before moving to Nashville, I lived in Boston where I attended Berklee College of Music, getting a degree in Drum Performance. Throughout both my upbringing and professional life I have taught drum lessons where I have gotten to mentor many students at all skill levels. My goal is to make a student, regardless of their age and experience, be excited to practice and explore the drums on their own. I aim to transmit my passion for the instrument to someone else, and to inspire my students to challenge themselves. I teach both online and in-person from my studio in Nashville.
I am also bilingual, as I speak English and Spanish.
