I graduated from Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education and Human Development with a degree in Child Development. My academic background goes beyond coursework — I published a peer-reviewed journal article and presented first-author research at an international conference as an undergraduate, both focused on adolescent development. This foundation in developmental science directly shapes how I approach teaching.
I have been tutoring online continuously for four years, working with a wide range of learners: children with visual impairments, K–12 students from low-income backgrounds, high schoolers preparing for AP exams, and adult learners studying for the GRE. My students range in age from 6 to 20, and I have experience in both one-on-one and group class formats. I teach elementary math, AP Psychology, and GRE Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning. On the GRE, I scored a 337 (167 Verbal, 97th percentile; 170 Quantitative, perfect score), so I bring firsthand mastery to GRE prep.
My teaching approach is rooted in developmental psychology — I respect the cognitive and emotional realities of each age group and focus on transferable thinking rather than rote memorization. My goal is for every student to walk away not just solving one problem, but understanding an entire category of problems through a clear mental model.
I begin each engagement by assessing the student's current understanding and identifying any foundational gaps — informed by developmental frameworks rather than guesswork. From there, I build targeted instruction around the student's specific needs, then consolidate learning through categorization and deliberate practice, so skills transfer beyond the immediate problem.
I offer a free initial consultation or trial lesson for all new students. For younger learners, I provide parents with a brief developmental observation report after the first session. For all students, I offer lesson summaries and milestone check-ins upon request. Feel free to reach out — I look forward to connecting!
